Man with Van Barnet Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is issued by Man with Van Barnet in respect of our operations and supply chains. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business activities and in the services we procure, including transport, warehousing, vehicle hire, and associated support services.
Man with Van Barnet recognises that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It can take many forms, including servitude, forced and compulsory labour, bonded labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in our supply chains.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to everyone working for or with Man with Van Barnet, including employees, agency workers, subcontractors, and all suppliers, regardless of their location or size.
Our zero-tolerance policy means that we will not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation that is involved in, or complicit with, modern slavery or human trafficking. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in immediate termination of contracts or working relationships, alongside consideration of reporting to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Audits
Our supply chains include vehicle rental and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, packaging and removals equipment providers, cleaning and storage partners, and other logistics and professional service providers. We expect all of them to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery.
As part of our ongoing due diligence, we carry out proportionate checks on our suppliers and subcontractors. These checks may include reviewing their own modern slavery policies, requesting information on their labour practices, and assessing their approach to worker welfare, recruitment processes, and subcontracting arrangements.
We reserve the right to audit suppliers and partners where we identify higher risks, such as the use of temporary labour or cross-border recruitment. These audits may involve site visits, document reviews, and direct engagement with management. If concerns are identified, we work with the supplier to develop corrective action plans. If adequate remediation is not achieved within a reasonable timeframe, we will consider ending the business relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We recognise the importance of educating our workforce about modern slavery risks and indicators. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and contract management, receive guidance on how to recognise signs of exploitation and how to respond appropriately.
Man with Van Barnet encourages a culture of openness where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. All workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery in our operations or supply chains. Concerns may be raised directly with management, through internal reporting procedures, or via any existing whistleblowing channels available to staff or contractors.
Reports are taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. Where necessary, we will cooperate with law enforcement bodies and other competent authorities. No one who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any detriment as a result of speaking up.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We understand that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-off exercise. Man with Van Barnet is committed to continually improving our policies and practices in light of developing guidance, legal requirements, and feedback from our workforce and partners.
This Modern Slavery Statement, together with our internal policies and procedures relating to ethical conduct and human rights, is reviewed at least once every year. During the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our actions, consider any incidents or concerns raised, and identify further steps to strengthen our prevention and detection measures.
Where appropriate, updates will be made to our supplier requirements, training content, and internal processes to ensure they remain robust and responsive to emerging risks. By maintaining this continuous improvement approach, Man with Van Barnet aims to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to contribute meaningfully to the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
